The Canadian Institute of Mining , Metallurgy and Petroleum ( CIM )

is one of the world ’ s oldest mining organisations . The CIM endeavours to gather information on the mining industry to create what it labels a “ robust , connected and engaged CIM community ”. The Institute holds regular meetings and publishes both annual reports and a series of books on topics including metallurgical plant design , mining geophysics and iron control practices . It also offers a Centre for Excellence in CSR and a Global Mining Guidelines Group to facilitate collaboration on solutions to common industry problems around the implementation of new technologies .
