In Kenya , there is an established National
Environmental and Management Authority which looks at , among other issues , the environmental and human safeguards , through the requirement that social and environmental impact assessment has to be undertaken and reports prepared and submitted to the Authority before mining ventures could be allowed within a particular area . As an industry , we welcome this requirement .
