WHAT ’ S IN A NAME ? It ’ s a homage to our roots and to our forebears . Back in the 1980s a lot of computer scientists and developers that wrote the programs from the games that we grew up on , had this quirky obsession with llamas . I don ’ t know if that ’ s necessarily because there were llama farms around the universities , which is a common occurrence in California and elsewhere in the world , but these creatures are kind of majestic but they ’ re funny looking and so this obsession kind of built back then . Those programmers and developers inserted quirky jokes and references to llamas with ‘ easter eggs ’ in the games . We grew up with that and wanted to pay homage to them and have that as kind of the icon , the symbol of what is the potential in the future .
