The key to Grupo Mexico ’ s burgeoning ventures is the integration of business units able to relate and support each other , taking part in a large , wholesome scheme .
The construction company that started it all during the 1940s became a mining company after a quarter of a century . The mining operation evolved into surface mining , which brought Grupo Mexico the opportunity to invest abroad . Afterwards , the corporation broadened its reach toward the freight trains industry , experiencing constant growth from 9 to 25 percent , after investments of more than $ 5 billion over a 17-year span .
Since the mid-2010s , Grupo Mexico is aware of upcoming business opportunities and other positive changes derived from the country ’ s energy reform , since its Infrastructure division already took part on the construction of a wind farm and two combined cycle power plants , among other ventures .
Efforts by Grupo Mexico have resulted in taking the country up the ladder among the largest copper , silver , molybdenum and zinc producers , globally .
