With provenance of raw materials under scrutiny , downstream customers , such as automotive manufacturers and technology giants , are demanding ethically-sourced minerals . Mining companies are under pressure to create a more transparent customer interface and adopt technologies such as blockchain to enhance the traceability of commodities .
